International Tour

On the 6th of July 2008, Imperial Medicals RFC will embark upon South African airways flight 346 to Cape Town for the beginning of their Summer tour. Tour will consist of 7 matches – 4 first team and 3 second team, all of which will be followed by post-match functions and the customary socialising. Sides we will be playing include the Stellenbosch Medics, Nelson Mandella University, Kruger park rangers and the Swaziland National team. Following the Swaziland match we will be having a reception with the High Commissioner of Swaziland.

As well as the rugby, there will be many adrenaline-fuelled activities included for those that want – Bungee jumping, white water rafting, safari game drives, shark diving and for the more sedate, a golf day. All are included in the cost of tour.

In order to give something back to the communities that are supporting us whilst we are away on tour, we will be spending some time doing voluntary work. This will include coaching a local school side in Swaziland, and for those with more medical knowledge, volunteering at one of the health centres.

Of course a lot of tour is about the stash you can bring home with you. For this reason, we are going to get the best. All kit will be Canterbury and will include: 2 shirts, shorts, socks, tracksuit, warm up T-shirt, polo shirt, tour bag, match day bag and possibly IMRFC branded under armour.

Get your deposit cheques in as soon as possible – deadline is the end of October for freshers and next week for older years.

There will be a tour presentation evening on Saturday 13th at 6:00 in the Glenister lecture theatre at Charing Cross. Everyone should come along to find out all of the details about tour and ask any questions you have.
