Another hard fought win for the medics.
BUCS Imperial Medicals 25 – 13 University of Chichester 10/02/10
Tries: Sharples (2), Efeotor, Masters
Conversions: Martin
Penalties: Martin
This match report could focus on the tenacious defence of Allin or the clinical finishing of Sharples, but on the day something eclipsed all else. The drive. From the moment the key turned in the engine everyone knew that this was something a bit special. Man and machine working in harmony. As the minibus moved further away from the urban metropolis Mowat was really able to display his talents. Guiding the bus through narrow country lanes, subtley but firmly easing her through the gears. West Sussex was stunned. Not since the days of Stirling Moss has anything like this been witnessed. At one point navigator Davies made an incorrect instruction, a lesser driver such as Neville may have become flustered, Mowat not so. With typical poise and composure he showed himself to be as adept at tight maneuvres as he is on the open roads, accurately executing a three point turn.
On the return journey few expected such high standards to be maintained. Amazingly they were surpassed. By this time news had spread rapidly of what was happening. The village of Cocking came out in the droves to spectate on a once in a lifetime show. "Bravo bravo," they cried. On return to the Glenister the bus erupted. Those in the back could contain themselves no longer. "Breathtaking," shouted Hamilton, "Sublime" said Nzekwue. Others such as Scholes tried to speak but the words simply would not come. The team returned to the Reynolds with only one topic of conversation in the air. Players discussed their own favourtie moments, for Jordan it was a beautiful lane change on the A3. Vice captain Davies suggested that to put one moment above all others would be wrong. Sarvesaran captured the mood of the moment when he said "Simply the best thing I have ever been involved in".
